Hello
I hope that all of you happy and relax after being done with exams
In this post, I'm gonna share the overall structure of OBGYN Clerkship and my experience with it.

the clerkship was 8 weeks divided between OR, ER, ward, Delivery room (DR), OPD and simulation & small group discussion (SGD). We start the first week with lectures and tutorials and PBL and starting from the second week we got distributed into our rotations.

While you are rotating you will fill the Logbook along the way
In the OR:
Major surgery open surgery and laparoscopic surgery
In the DR:
Two vaginal delivery and on C-section
Cardiotocography (CTG)
In the OPD:
Attending 2 antenatal clinics and 2 women's health clinics
In the ward:
make 2 case presentation and 1 antenatal examination
In simulation and SGD:
Perform and observe speculum examination, pap smear, and bi-manual examination.
In the ER:
See cases
In general, the log book is your attendance during rotation days which are Sundays, Mondays' afternoon and Tuesdays, and mandatory attendance is only in lectures, tutorials, and PBLs which are on Mondays' morning and Thursdays' morning. On average you'll have 6 hours of lecturing each week.
The concepts of the material are new at the beginning and then you will get used to it. Moreover, reading lectures before coming to the class will be helpful and will give you a better idea of how to direct your note-taking.
There are around 51 lectures to cover and 8 out of them are self-directed learning, those self directed learning you can cover them during simulation week with your tutor.
In each rotation there will be a bedside teaching about different topics. Usually, they love to cover OB topics like Pre-eclampsia, DM and Antenatal history and examination, also you always need to prepare cases.
Try as much as possible to complete your log book in each rotation before going to the next one, because this is your only time you have during all 8 weeks.
Studying the most work that you are going to do, some lectures' slides are enough for basic understanding and others are not. They recommend Hacker & Moore’s ESSENTIALS OF OBSTETRICS &GYNECOLOGY and Up-todate as references, but I did not use it at all and used other resources that I felt comfortable with; these resources are kaplan lecture notes for OBGYN, blueprints and case files of OBGYN.
Here are links to them:
OBGYN blueprints
Kaplan lecture notes
Case files "this is a similar book"
or buys the book from here
Also, I used YouTube for a better understanding of the different topic and most commonly I search Kaplan videos and Paul W. Bolin channel.
Here is the link to OB / GYN playlist from his channel:

The exam, in general, was good with some questions that everyone has a different opinion about, but for the most part was better than any other exams during any year before. Since I don't know my grades I cannot tell you if my studying is reflected in my grades.
You will enjoy your 8 weeks, you'll meet great doctors who are willing to teach you and answer your questions. It will be light clerkship that will pass without problems inshallah.
wish you the best of luck
and don't forget to pray for me
thanks for reading
